Content Editing Guide

Shopify Content Editing Guide#

Introduction#

Shopify is a leading e-commerce platform that enables merchants to build and manage online stores. This guide explains how to edit content across pages, sections, themes, products, blogs, and other elements using the Shopify admin interface and Theme Editor (updated for 2026 interface and features).
Key Notes:
Always back up your theme before major changes (duplicate it via Actions > Duplicate).
Use the visual Theme Editor for most customizations—no coding required for basic edits.
For advanced edits, access the code editor (Liquid, CSS, JavaScript).
Recent updates include improved AI-assisted content generation, flexible block-based sections, and wider page-width options (up to 1600px).
Access everything via your Shopify admin: https://admin.shopify.com/store/6bsdhx-8a

4. Best Practices & Tips (2026)#

Always preview changes on desktop + mobile before saving.
Fill out SEO fields (meta title/description, image alt text) for every page/product/collection.
Use AI text & image generation tools when available in the editor.
Limit heavy sections/animations to maintain fast page speed.
Consider page builder apps (PageFly, Shogun, GemPages) for complex layouts without code.
Duplicate your theme before major edits (Actions → Duplicate).
Use Preview link to share changes with team/clients without publishing.
Test checkout flow after layout changes.

5. Common Troubleshooting#

Changes not showing? → Ensure correct theme is published, clear browser cache, check on incognito/private mode.
Section missing? → Check visibility toggle, template assignment, or conditional Liquid logic.
Broken layout? → Revert to duplicated theme or check browser console (F12) for errors.
